In tijden van oorlog is dromen moeilijk maar begrijpbaar. De ‘Surreal Photography’ van Erik Johansson inspireerde mij tot enkele teksten om even aan die oorlog te ontkomen. De Engelse vertalingen zijn voorlopige pogingen om deelname aan de inhoud te bevorderen.

Je vader,
de schapenwolken-scheerder
-cirrocumuli-
schoor het gekrulde schapenwit
de hoge hemel in.
'Het wordt kouder, kind.'
Zwart broertje 'Donder'
heeft zijn tijd gehad.

Voor het donker
moet de kudde de luchten leeg eten.
Je moeders manen
willen 
in heldere hemelnachten.
schitteren.

Your father,
the sheep-shearer
-cirrocumuli-
sheared the curly white sheep
into the high heavens.
'It is getting colder, child.'
Black brother 'Thunder'
has had his time.

Before dark
the herd must eat the skies dry.
Your mother's moons
want sparkle
in bright sky nights.

Reset.
Nog net voor hij zal drukken
vraagt hij haar
of het terug naar vroeger moet:
het rennen
tegen het rukken van de tijd.
Of spijt:
dat grijs normale
dat alle dromen
splijt.
Eerst betalen
voor enkele scherven gespiegelde
eeuwigheid.

Reset.
Just before he will press
he asks her
if it has to go back to the old days:
the running
against the tug of time.
Or regret:
that grey normal
that splits all dreams
First pay
for a few shards of mirrored
eternity.

Toch is er boven de zolder
nog een tweede 
zoals in het hoofd
het denken
een trapje hoger
zingen wordt
en nog een zolder daarboven
met onzegbare dromen
is gestapeld.

Door dat laatste zolderraam
ontsnap je,
vleugels overbodig.

Een beetje schrik voor het donker
vertraagt
het vallen.

Yet above the attic
another one 
as in the head
thinking
a step higher
becomes singing
and another attic above
with unspeakable dreams
is piled up.

Through that last attic window
you escape,
wings superfluous.

A little fear of the dark
slows down
the fall.

WHO IS ERIK JOHANSSON?

Erik Johansson (born 1985) is a photographer and visual artist from Sweden based in Prague, Czech Republic. His work can be described as surreal world created by combining photographs. Erik mainly works on personal projects and doing exhibitions around the world. In contrast to traditional photography he doesn’t capture moments, he captures ideas with the help of his camera and imagination. The goal is to capture a story in a single frame and to make it look as realistic as possible even if the scene itself contains impossible elements. In the end it all comes down to problem solving, finding a way to capture the impossible. (website)
